What we have been up to in the Wallaby room….
The month of May saw the Wallabies celebrating our amazing Mums with Mother’s Day. We created vases for presents as well as expressing why we love her through words and drawings. We also enjoyed a special Mother’s Day breakfast with our Mums. It was lovely to experiences our Early Learning Centre with you and this is important for the Wallabies in building a sense of community amongst their peers and families.
We have being exploring our creativity and focussing on process art, opposed to art that’s main goal is the final product. Art is a valuable tool that encourages the Wallabies to learn about and explore their environment. Art motivates children to explore, make decisions and most importantly express themselves creatively. We looked at different types of art such as; photography, clay and pottery, mural painting, painting to different music tempos and portrait and landscape paintings. It has been wonderful to embrace our children’s creative talents.
We are fortunate to have had some new Wallaby friends join us in our room.
We are enjoying the exploration of new friendships and dynamics in our play.
We are using this opportunity to focus on being kind to our friends, using gentle hands, kind words and practicing how to be an inclusive community.
On Mondays we have Miss Natalie, who is an Occupational Therapist, visit with us. She facilitates activities that will assist our Wallabies in achieving their developmental milestones. Miss Sheryl visits with us on Wednesdays and together we learn dance routines, practice balancing and forward rolls on the gymnastics mat.
With the weather becoming cooler please ensure a labelled jumper is placed in your Wallabies bag as well as the usual sun hat and water bottle.
Miss Janelle, Miss Tatiane and Miss Raquel.
