 Mini Farmers
Sustainability is at the heart of our philosophy, and mini farmers provides the opportunities for children to learn about the natural world through caring for their chickens, guinea pig, fish and frogs.

This Program teaches children about nurturing as well as responsibility. The children enjoy feeding, watering and nurturing their chickens, guinea pig, fish and frogs. Children are able to share the same experiences, learn new words, observe life cycles and learn the needs of animals. The children enjoy collecting the eggs and then making a delicious afternoon tea treat such as muffins and omelettes.

The Centre creates opportunities for children to learn, through establishing safe environments for children to observe with all of their senses, and providing a vocabulary for children to understand their observations. They create opportunities for children to learn and talk about their natural and physical world.

Mini Gardeners
Gardening sees our children maintaining and planting their own gardens, as well picking some fresh produce for their cooking experiences. The kids also have the opportunity to learn responsibility and how to respect and look after their environment.

Through this process children have developed an understanding of, their environment, where food comes from, how to look after their plants. Mini Gardeners gives teachers the opportunity to take the classroom outdoors and we know that learning through doing and unstructured play allows children to participate in active learning. Children all learn in different ways and being a mini gardener inspires creativity and extends their thinking.

Oxford Falls ELC has amazing natural grounds and this is a key part of our philosophy. Our large natural playgrounds inspire teachers and children to learn about the importance of preserving our natural environment through hands-on activities, like planting vegetable and herb gardens and then incorporating their produce into a delicious morning tea snack.

Mini Language
As a reflection of Australia’s cultural diversity, we offer Portuguese lessons. Involving children in learning an alternative language increases their understating of the world in which they live, develops respect for differences and promotes effective communication.

Mini Kindy Prep
Oxford Falls Early Learning Centre, School Readiness program aims to provide our children with enriching experiences that form a strong foundation in preparation for their transition to school. Our everyday program is embedded with School Readiness elements that will promote confident children.

These elements are:

  • Language and literature
  • Maths and science
  • Physical development
  • Social and emotional development
  • Self-help skills

Social skills are essential for effective School transitioning. Sharing, turn-taking, engaging other children, hygienic toileting, following rules, demonstrating resilience, self-esteem and caring for belongings are all important aspects for children to be familiar with.
